Aeronautical Information Services

The Aeronautical Information Services (AIS) is a vital part of air traffic services, dedicated to ensuring the safety, regularity, and efficiency of air navigation within the Maldives and the airspace over the high seas encompassed by Maldives Flight Information Region.

AIS is responsible for the collecting, maintaining, storing and disseminating accurate aeronautical data, which is essential for air traffic management (ATM) and flight operations.

AIS Maldives is responsible for providing pre-flight briefing and processing flight plans.

Aeronautical Information Services are provided in the form of AIS Products and services by means of:

  • AIP Maldives: is a crucial document published by MNATS with the authority of Maldives Civil Aviation which contains comprehensive and updated information essential for air navigation. The AIP Maldives includes details on regulations, procedures and other information necessary for the safe operation of aircraft within Maldives Flight Information Region. It is made up of three parts, namely General (GEN), En-route (ENR) and Aerodromes (AD).
  • AIP Amendment: Permanent changes to the information contained in the AIP.
  • AIP Supplement: Temporary changes of air navigation
  • Aeronautical Information Circulars (AIC) : explanatory and advisory information on technical/ legislative/administrative matters; and the long-term forecast of major changes in legislation, regulations, procedures or facilities affecting flight safety.
  • NOTAM : Temporary information of short duration, or when operationally significant permanent changes or temporary changes of long duration are made at short notice, except for extensive text and/ or graphics.

These services collectively ensure that all stakeholders have access to accurate, timely, and comprehensive information, which is essential for safe and efficient flight operations in the Maldives.
